myself
My name is Alex Ritsema, Dutchman, born 1963, lecturer in economics at a university in the town of Deventer in The Netherlands.

Since my youth I have been studying and visiting small islands all over the world; landscapes, geology, people, economies and wildlife. About all these aspects I collect books, articles and websites - and I always get home with a huge number of slides.

I have written six books about islands and maritime history:
